Dylan Thomas lived at the The Boathouse in Laugharne from 1949 until 1953, the last four years of his life, with his wife Catlin and their three children Aeronwy, Llewelyn and Colm. The Boathouse is set on a cliff overlooking the glorious “heron priested” Taf Estuary. It was here that Dylan completed his “play for voices”, Under Milk Wood, and his best known poem, Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night.

Laugharne Castle

Though most famous for its association with the poet Dylan Thomas, Laugharne boasts a castle that can be traced back to the 12th century and the Normans. Its ownership has included Henry II, the Lord Rhys (Prince of Kingdom of Deheubarth), The De Brian family (Lords Of Laugharne), and Sir John Parrot (who is said to have been an illegitimate son of Henry VIII).
